Follow the leader

what is it wit ppl now a days....seems like in every clique theres a leader thats appointed randomly...not a vote or a nomination but just appointed whether they like it or not...and the ppl around that leader follow that person...playing copy cat...whats wrong with the leaders that set themselves outside the box...the leaders that have paved their own paths that may or may not be with the norm....are ppl afraid that stepping out of the norm is dangerous.....me personally..im one of those ppl that decided to pave my own path...yea i lost a few followers in the long run..but i gained a few too....and the few i have dont really follow...they watch me and they lead themselves...my path may be blue with yellow pokadots while the person to my lefts path may be wood and the person to my rights path may be cotton...do ppl really need a color code to go by inorder to get thru life..??
